Important Meeting About Forms Coming Soon…
The Forms Committee met recently to discuss some changes in the current DAAR forms and made recommendations to the Directors. The Directors recently met with the Broker/Owners to discuss the changes and it was the consensus of the Broker/Owners to agree. Therefore, the Directors at their last meeting approved the following changes to the forms that DAAR offers to the membership to use. Please note that the forms DAAR offers are not mandatory in anyway for Broker/Owners to use, they are a choice for the Broker/Owners to supply to their agents as safe and reliable forms commonly used in our service area. This meeting is designed for our Association Counsel to review the new forms with the membership and teach them how to properly use them.

Monday June 21, 2010 at Best Western on Route 38 in DeKalb from 1pm to 3:30pm
Instructor: Jim Stoddard, Association Counsel

DAAR Online News April 2010

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

SPRING IS HERE! AND WITH IT BRINGS THE WARM WEATHER, OPEN HOUSES AND THE BUYERS…..ALL OUT LOOKING AND HOPING TO FIND THAT RIGHT HOME! WE AS AGENTS HAVE EVERYTHING IN PLACE….THE INVENTORY IS GREAT….THE RATES ARE STILL LOW….AND WE ARE ARMED WITH TAX INCENTIVES AND A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT OUR MARKET PLACE IN ORDER TO BETTER ASSIST THOSE BUYERS IN MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION!
I JUST WANTED TO TOUCH BASE AGAIN WITH THE MANY TOOLS AND INFORMATION THAT IS AVAILABLE TO US VIA IAR AND NAR. THERE ARE SO MANY WEBSITES TO EDUCATE BOTH US AS REALTORS AND THE CLIENTS ABOUT MAKING A SMART PURCHASE.
NAR IS NOW HOSTING THE “REALTOR TV” FEED. CATCH EXCITING NEWS RELATED TO HOT TOPICS IN THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY. YOU CAN PLACE THE FEED DIRECTLY ONTO YOUR WEBSITE AND IT UPDATES ITSELF AS NEW BROADCASTS ARE RELEASED FROM NAR. HOW SIMPLE IS THAT? VERY….JUST CONTACT OUR GEN X/GEN Y COMMITTEE TO SHOW YOU HOW!
SOME OTHER GREAT FEEDS INCLUDE: STYLED, STAGED & SOLD….REALTOR MAGAZINE DAILY NEWS….RIGHT TOOLS, RIGHT NOW….TECHNOLOGY…..WHAT’S NEW LIBRARY….JUST TO NAME A FEW. AND YES….THESE ARE ALL FREE TO US AS REALTORS!
IAR HAS ITS OWN NEWS FEEDS FEATURING: NEW RELEASES…..IAR PODCASTS…IAR BLOG: IARBUZZ.COM….IAR WEEKLY CONNECTION! DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE HOME BUYER TOOL BOX….IT’S MAIN REFERENCE THAT’S IMPORTANT TO US, IS THAT OVER 80% OF THE BUYERS OUT THERE THAT USED A REALTOR, WOULD REFER THAT REALTOR TO A FRIEND AND/OR FAMILY MEMBER! THEY SAW THE VALUE IN USING A REALTOR IN THEIR HOME BUYING PROCESS. IT’S DIFFICULT FOR BUYERS TO MANUVER THEMSELVES THROUGH THE HOME BUYING PROCESS ALONG! YOU NEED TO ARM YOURSELF WITH ALL THE KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN FIND….AND THEY ALL AGREED THAT A REALTOR WAS THEIR NUMBER ONE CHOICE OF GO TO INFORMATION! THAT’S A HUGE CREDIT TO OUR INDUSTRY IN OUR AREA!
THEN RIGHT IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY WE HAVE DAAR AS A REFERENCE GUIDE OF HELP. FREE TO US AS MEMBERS WE HAVE ACCESS TO DAARBUZZ.BLOGSPOT.COM, WEDNESDAY MORNINGS “KEEPING YOU INFORMED”, GEN X/GEN Y WORKSHOPS, NIREALTOR.COM, FACEBOOK, AND MEMBERSHIP EVENTS, CONTINUING ED AND MUCH MORE!
LET’S TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS MARKET PLACE AND EVERYTHING THAT IT HAS TO OFFER! PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD AND DON’T LOOK BACK! DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN’T DO SOMETHING, JUST FIND ANOTHER ROUTE TO THE END LOCATION!
The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will. Vince Lombardi

Sincerely,
Rorry Heide – President DeKalb Area Association of REALTORS

Right Tools, Right Now

Earn the Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource Certification before March 31, 2010, and the $175 application fee will be waived as part of NAR’s Right Tools, Right Now.

Short Sale Incentive Program Begins April 5th

Short sale incentive program begins April 5.

The Obama Administration’s Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program (HAFA) takes effect April 5. HAFA, will help homeowners who are unable to retain their home under the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), by providing incentives for short sales and deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure rather than foreclosure.

The Impact of Mandating Residential Fire Sprinkler Systems

The Impact of Mandating Residential Fire Sprinkler Systems

The IAR Advocacy Program has produced a new lobbying brochure on the issue of municipal ordinances which require the installation of fire sprinkler systems in ALL newly constructed single-family homes and townhomes. IAR’s local Government Affairs Directors are expecting that this issue will be prominent in 2010 because a national building officials group recently recommended that this requirement be a part of any local building code (for new residential construction). In addition, the sprinkler manufacturer lobby is pressing hard for this requirement. The brochure will be given to local officials when they consider such a proposal. The piece is intended to have local officials consider all aspects of an installation mandate, including the cost borne by the new homebuyer, and the deprivation of consumer choice. For a copy of this brochure contact Aimee Bick of IAR, abick@iar.org or 800-752-3274.

How New Lead-Based Paint Rules Affect REALTORS

How New Lead-Based Paint Rules Affect REALTORS®

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a new rule regarding remodeling and renovation work that is done in housing to address lead-based paint hazards created by such work. This new rule goes into effect on April 22, 2010. The U.S. EPA rule in this area addresses lead hazards in remodeling and renovation projects. To reduce exposure to lead-based paint hazards during renovation activities, EPA is requiring additional notification and work safety procedures before, during, and after remodeling or renovation activity. These new rules will particularly impact REALTORS® who have significant property management activities in their practice and residential property managers. NAR has developed a pair of video compliance guides to help REALTORS® understand the new rules and their compliance responsibilities.
